No. Nocturn reads the process and connection lists Windows already maintains — it doesn't add its own scanning loop. Typical CPU usage is under 0.1%, RAM around 40 MB. It's designed to be quieter than a browser tab.
Yes — keep it on. Nocturn is a complement to Windows Defender, not a replacement. Defender does the deep, real-time, kernel-level file blocking; Nocturn adds AI-awareness, clipboard protection, and a quiet second-opinion scanner. They work alongside each other.
Generally no. Nocturn runs in user mode with no kernel driver, so it coexists with Defender and most third-party AV. If your AV is very aggressive, add an exclusion for Nocturn's install folder so it doesn't flag Nocturn's own signatures.
No. Nocturn monitors which processes are running and which network connections they make — the same information Windows Task Manager shows you. It does not intercept, decrypt, or log the content of any traffic.
Clipboard hijacking — malware that silently watches your clipboard and swaps sensitive copied data for something the attacker controls. The most common real-world case is a copied crypto wallet address being replaced with the attacker's, so a payment goes to them instead. Nocturn monitors clipboard changes, detects address substitutions, and alerts you instantly, offering to restore what you actually copied. Covers BTC, ETH/EVM, XRP, LTC, TRX, DOGE. Sophisticated kernel-level malware could bypass this, but it defeats the vast majority of commodity clipboard hijackers used in the wild.
System Apps is a searchable, categorised launcher for every installed utility and Windows control-panel applet — one click instead of digging through Start Menu. Drive Control lets you take any non-system drive offline with one click, enforced by Windows itself — handy for isolating backups or personal data before testing something you don't fully trust. See Use Cases for a worked example.
